Primary Species of Fish

Largemouth bass continue to flourish throughout Wisconsin’s waters and Barron County is no different.  While most anglers may prefer to fish for walleye, muskie and panfish in this area, the area lakes have lots of largemouth bass and northern pike in them.  If you’re looking for action from some game fish, pike and largemouth bass will keep you busy on many of the area waters.

Secondary Species of Fish

Muskie and walleye are secondary species of fish in this part of Wisconsin, however, those are the fish that a lot of anglers like to chase in this area.  There are some waters that hold some nice muskie with fishable populations.  Walleye are usually easier to catch in the spring and fall for most anglers.  Panfish can be found in the area waters, but plan on sorting through plenty of small ones to find some keeper fish to eat.  Smallmouth bass are here too, but definitely a secondary species of fish in this area.
