Eels are a very common bait for striped bass. For some anglers, a lively eel is the go to bait and you can catch some very big stripers on eels. Most anglers will fish eels with a single hook and no weight, but you can add a sinker and fish it a little deeper too. Letting the eel work is the key to getting bites. Casting them out and working them back in will help you cover more water and catch more fish, but you don’t want to fish them too fast. Some anglers prefer to drift with them and that works great too.
