Broken Bow Lake is a large lake in Oklahoma and it is a popular recreational lake.  Anglers have lots of options here with good fishing available in the lake as well as in the tailwaters below the dam on the Lower Mountain Fork River.  In the lake, anglers target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and more.  In the tailwaters below the dam, anglers experience good trout fishing year round.

The Dallas / Forth Worth area is a big city destination with lots of really good fishing options in every direction within a 30 to 60 minute minute drive.  Largemouth bass are king in Texas and it is no different in the Dallas, Texas area.  Crappie, white bass, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish round out the fishery in this area.


Lake Conroe

Lake Conroe is a large lake covering 21,000 acres in Montgomery County, Texas.  Even though it is named Lake Conroe, only a small portion of the lake is in Conroe, Texas while the majority of the lake is located in unincorporated Montgomery County.  It is only about an hour drive from nearby Houston, so this lake attracts plenty of visitors who enjoy boating, fishing and just being around the water.

Lake Falcon is known as a big bass lake that is located on the border of Texas and Mexico.  The reservoir was formed by the construction of the Falcon Dam to provide water conservation, irrigation, flood control and hydroelectricity to the area.  For anglers, this more than 83,000 acre lake is one of the best big bass lakes in the state.  Largemouth bass are the main species of fish targeted, but the fishing for catfish can be quite good as well if you know how to target them.


Lake Fork

Lake Fork is 27,690 surface acres and it is located in Wood and Rains County of northeast Texas.  With 315 miles of shoreline, there is plenty of water to fish.  Lake Fork has gained the reputation of being one of the best, if not the best bass lake in the country.  There are so many huge bass caught here every year that many of the fishing guides consider 5 pound bass “dinks.”  Of the top 20 State Record Largemouth Bass of Texas, the majority of them were caught from Lake Fork.  Fishing is also excellent for crappie and catfish, however, most anglers do not even think about fishing for these species.  This lake is a remarkable lake, but you may need a fishing guide to get you started.  It is a big lake with tons of wood that sits above the surface, but learning the underwater structure is key to landing some of the monster bass that live here.


Lake O’ the Pines

Lake O’ the Pines is a large lake located in East Texas.  It is a popular lake in eastern Texas as anglers target a variety of fish including largemouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and other sunfish.  It is a good lake for anglers looking to target big largemouth bass.

Lake Palestine is located on the Neches River, 15 miles southwest of Tyler, Texas.  With a surface area of more than 25,500 acres, this lake is plenty big enough to hold good numbers of quality fish.  Anglers usually come here to fish for largemouth bass, however, anglers can also fish for spotted bass, white bass, striped bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish.

Lake Texoma is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States.  Located along the Oklahoma – Texas border, this lake covers over 89,000 surface acres.  Lake Texoma is extremely popular among anglers and boaters alike.  The lake draws around 6 million annual visitors.


O.H. Ivie Lake

O.H. Ivie Lake has taken off recently as it continues to put out huge bass one after another.  This lake is a reservoir that was formerly known as Stacy Reservoir.  It is located 16 miles below the confluence of the Concho River and the Colorado River.  The lake covers more than 19,000 acres and has a maximum depth of 119 feet.  The huge largemouth bass have gotten the most attention on this lake, but there are other species to target as well.  There is a fishable population of smallmouth bass on the lake to go along with good numbers of catfish, crappie and white bass.


Sam Rayburn Lake

Sam Rayburn Lake is located on the Angelina River.  There is a dam located in Jasper County approximately 15 miles north of Jasper, Texas.  This lake has more than 114,000 surface acres with a maximum depth of 80 feet.  Sam Rayburn Lake is a very popular largemouth bass fishing lake.

Texas Hills Country

The Texas Hills Country is where you will find the Edwards Plateau region located in central Texas.  This region is known for its steep canyons, stony hills and many springs.  There are also rare plants and animals found in this part of the country that you cannot find anywhere else on Earth.  This area is a large part of Texas and there are plenty of places to fish in the Texas Hills Country.  There are some really good lakes and rivers to fish and you can catch a variety of fish species.


Toledo Bend Reservoir

Toledo Bend Reservoir is a huge reservoir with more than 181,000 surface acres.  It is located on the Sabine River in Shelby, Sabine and Newton counties and it straddles the Texas-Louisiana state line.  The dam is in Newton County approximately 24 miles northeast of Jasper, Texas.  Its maximum depth is 110 feet.  Toledo Bend Reservoir is one of the best largemouth bass lakes in the country.
