Topwater Fishing

Topwater fishing is popular with spotted bass when they are in the shallows.  You won’t always be able to catch spotted bass on topwater lures, but in the late spring, early summer and at times in the fall, you can usually find some active bass early in the morning or in the evening before dark.  If the topwater bite isn’t happening, don’t push it.  Use something else so you can catch some fish.  It’s a timing thing and sometimes they will be shallow and feeding on top, but a lot of the time, spotted bass do feed in deeper water.
