Some boat-in fishing resorts are just as good if not better than some of the fly-in fishing resorts. There are not nearly as many boat-in fishing resorts as there are drive-in resorts or fly-in fishing resorts, but there are plenty of them available that you should be able to find one that fits your needs.
Fly-In Fishing Resorts & Lodges - Fly-in fishing is the ultimate when it comes to fishing in Canada. If you want to consistently catch good numbers of trophy-sized fish, a fly-in fishing trip is highly recommended. Some of the better fly-in fishing resorts will give anglers their best chance to target big northern pike, walleye, muskie, smallmouth bass and lake trout.
Ontario - Arguably one of the best places in all of North America to plan a freshwater fishing vacation. Pike, muskie, walleye, smallmouth bass and perch are plentiful in Ontario, Canada.
Lake of the Woods - Probably the most popular lake to fish in all of Canada. Located on the border of Minnesota and Canada, you can choose to cross into Canada or stay in the states. Either way, you will find plenty of fishing opportunities for pike, muskie, walleye and bass.
Lac Seul - Walleye, muskie, pike and smallmouth bass. One of the better drive-in lakes for catching walleye.
Red Lake, Ontario - An excellent area for a variety of species such as muskie, pike, walleye, lake trout, whitefish and perch.
Eagle Lake - Another good Canadian drive-in lake for muskie, pike, walleye and smallmouth bass.
Lake Nipissing - A good drive-in lake for muskie, pike, walleye and bass.

Lake of the Woods – Great early summer through fall destination, known for Rainy River spring walleye run & excellent fall Rainy River Run for walleye, pike, smallmouth bass, perch and crappie.
Rainy Lake - Located on the border of Minnesota and Canada. Good fishing opportunities for pike, walleye, smallmouth bass and crappie. Rainy Lake is a very good walleye and smallmouth bass lake.
Leech Lake offers visitors some good fishing for walleye, pike, muskie and bass. Most anglers don’t target largemouth bass, but there is some excellent largemouth bass fishing on Leech Lake.
Boundary Waters - This is the place to plan a canoe trip. If you’re looking for an adventure, this may be the place for you. There are plenty of lakes that offer good fishing for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake trout and muskie.
Lake Winnibigoshish - Lake Winni is one of the better walleye lakes in the state of Minnesota. There are lots of pike and perch available as well.
Mille Lacs Lake – Fishing is good for walleye, muskie, pike, smallmouth bass and perch.
Alexandria Lakes - A variety of lakes are near the town of Alexandria, Minnesota. Anglers catch bass, walleye, pike, muskie and panfish.
Bemidji, MN Area - With over 400 lakes within a 25 mile radius, you have more options than you need. Bass, walleye, pike, muskie and panfish are available in many of the lakes.
Brainerd Lakes - Walleye, bass, pike, muskie, crappie and perch are available in many of the area lakes.
Cass Lake - This is a good lake for walleye, muskie, perch and largemouth bass. Pike and smallmouth bass are also available.
Crane Lake - Beautiful scenery combined with good fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass and crappie make this lake worth visiting.
Detroit Lakes - Plenty of water to fish for a variety of fish such as walleye, bass, pike, crappie and sunfish.
Duluth, MN (Lake Superior) - Big water offers anglers opportunities for salmon, trout and walleye.
Grand Rapids, MN - Walleye, pike, muskie, bass and panfish are plentiful in the Grand Rapids area lakes.
Kabetogama Lake - This lake has some beautiful scenery to go along with its excellent fishing for walleye, pike, bass and crappie.
Lake Osakis - One of the better lakes in the state. Anglers target walleye, pike, bass and panfish.
Lake Vermilion - A good fishing lake for walleye, pike, muskie and smallmouth bass.

Northwoods of Wisconsin: Boulder Junction, Eagle River, WI, Minocqua, WI, and St. Germain, WI are the most popular areas to visit in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, but there are plenty of other towns and tons of lakes to fish in this region. Muskie and walleye are king here, but you can also catch smallmouth bass, northern pike, largemouth bass, perch and other panfish.
Door County, WI - Maybe the premier fishing destination in all of Wisconsin for quality fish. Salmon, trout, smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike and perch are available and they grow big here.
Sturgeon Bay - Outstanding fishing destination in Door County. On calm days, smaller boats can get to many of the good fishing spots. On windy days, you better be in a bigger boat. Salmon and trout are caught in the bay, but most anglers target smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye in Sturgeon Bay.
Hayward, WI - Tons of water to fish. Many smaller lakes make it perfect for anglers fishing in smaller boats. Some bigger lakes are here as well. You can find excellent fishing for northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass and muskie.
Lake Winnebago - This is a walleye factory. Big walleye swim in Lake Winnebago, but you will find a lot of fish in the 12 to 18 inch range. There are plenty of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and northern pike to keep you busy in between walleye bites.
Chequamegon Bay– Huge smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, trout, muskie and panfish.
Lake Geneva - Trophy smallmouth bass, nice northern pike and walleye. The problem is finding these fish and getting them to bite. Lake Geneva can be an extremely tough lake to figure out, but there are some very nice fish in this lake. Probably the best lake for big smallmouth bass in southern Wisconsin.
Delavan Lake - Probably the best lake to fish in southern Wisconsin. This lake gets hit hard with the crowds, but there are a lot of big pike and big largemouth bass. Northern pike over 32 inches and largemouth bass over 4 pounds are fairly common on Delavan Lake.

- Upper Peninsula - The Upper Peninsula offers anglers so many options. Salmon, trout, walleye, pike, muskie and panfish are plentiful in this region. There are too many places to fish to list here.
- Saginaw Bay - Known as a world class walleye fishery, Saginaw Bay also offers good fishing for salmon, trout and perch.
- Traverse City - Unbelievable smallmouth bass fishing to go along with lake trout, salmon, steelhead and brown trout.

- Lake Erie - Kelleys Island, Port Clinton, Put-In-Bay and Sandusky are some of the popular places to visit in Ohio if you are planning a Lake Erie fishing trip. Walleye are king here, but you can also catch smallmouth bass, perch, salmon and trout.
- Devils Lake - There is a tremendous walleye fishery on this lake to go along with pike, perch and white bass.
- Lake Sakakawea - This is a good lake for walleye. Anglers also catch salmon, trout, pike, crappie and perch.
- Branson, Missouri - A fishing vacation destination for the entire family. Lots of entertainment in Branson to go along with excellent fishing for bass, catfish and panfish on Table Rock Lake & Bull Shoals Lake. Trout fishing is very good on Lake Taneycomo. Branson is definitely one of the best fishing vacation destinations in the midwest.
- Bull Shoals Lake - A good lake for bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill. Plenty of accommodations, but not an overcrowded vacation destination.
- Lake of the Ozarks - A good lake for bass, catfish and crappie.
