3 Way Swivel Rigs
Anglers like to use the 3-way swivel rig to rig actual lures so they can get them down to the bottom easier. You can rig live minnows on there, but a spinner, spoon or minnow type bait can be very effective on this rig. Slow troll it along the bottom and hang on.
The Carolina rig is good for rigging live minnows or soft jerkbaits. The weight will help you get your baits down to the bottom where lake trout can be found.
Drop Shot Rigs
Drop shot rigs aren’t a very popular lake trout bait for most anglers, but they really should be. They allow you to get those minnow-style soft plastic baits down deeper where lake trout call home. Some anglers will even rig some of their favorite hard baits on a drop shot rig too. It’s a very effective rig for catching lake trout.
Jigheads are great for rigging plenty of minnow-style baits for lake trout. The bigger jigheads allow you to get your baits down to the deeper waters where lake trout can be found.
Dipsey divers are great for getting your baits down deeper. These are used for trolling.
Bottom bouncers are great for slow trolling. Add your favorite trolling lure and slow troll it along the bottom for lake trout.
