Types of Sea Bass

Bank Sea Bass

Bank sea bass are a small type of sea bass.  They grow up to 12 inches long, but you won’t find many fish bigger than that.  Bank sea bass are found offshore in deep water with rocks and reefs.

Black Sea Bass

Black Sea Bass are the most popular type of sea bass that anglers target.  They are very popular on the east coast in the Atlantic Ocean.  Anglers catch them by the dozens when they find a school of them.

Rock Sea Bass

Rock Sea Bass are another type of sea bass that is very small.  Many fish will never get above 10 inches long.  You can catch them similar to how you would catch any other type of sea bass.  Just make sure to downsize your baits when targeting rock sea bass.

Sand perch are very colorful.  They have blue cheek lines and orange throughout their body.  In some areas, you’re going to find a lot more pinfish than sand perch and in some areas, you will find schools of sand perch.  A sabiki rig usually works well to catch sand perch.  They are one of the better baits for many different types of fish such as grouper, trout, redfish and snook.
