Fishing Lake Winnibigoshish in the Spring

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
March 37° / 15°
April 54° / 29°
May 68° / 42°

The spring is a good time to fish this lake, especially if you like fishing shallower.  Most of the fish will be found shallower in the spring as water temperatures warm up.  Anglers report good catches out of Cut Foot Sioux Lake and depending on the water temperatures, you may be able to find some of these fish stacked up as they move into this lake or as they move back out of the lake when they are done spawning.  Find vegetation and rocks in the shallows and you should find some fish in the spring.

Fishing Lake Winnibigoshish in the Summer

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
June 76° / 52°
July 80° / 57°
August 77° / 55°

The summer provides for some tougher fishing for anglers who don’t know how to fish deeper water and offshore structure.  Spend some time figuring out how fish relate to the deeper water, offshore structures and you will catch more fish here.  Walleye, pike and perch can all be found offshore in the main lake during the summer.

Fishing  in the Fall

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
September 67° / 46°
October 54° / 35°
November 36° / 20°

While some fish will move shallower in the fall, you’re still going to find the majority of the better fish out on the main lake.  They may not be as deep, but the offshore structure will hold good numbers of fish still.

Fishing   in the Winter (Ice Fishing)

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 21° / 2°
January 16° / -6°
February 25° / 2°

Ice fishing can be productive.  There are plenty of anglers who fish here during the winters for walleye, perch and pike.
