Cold fronts can definitely affect the fishing for striped bass.  Like other species of bass, there is usually a good bite before a front approaches and after the cold front comes through, the fishing is usually much worse on the back end of a cold front.  In the fall, cold fronts can sometimes trigger bait fish moving into shallower water and the bite can actually get better.  For the most part though, fish will usually be found deeper after a cold front and many times, you will need live bait to get the fish to bite.
