Snook are found in the waters of Florida and in some other areas along the Gulf Coast. This fish is one of the most popular inshore fish. Since they can be found around docks and mangroves along the shorelines, snook are kind of like the largemouth bass for saltwater anglers.
Snook Fishing in the Palm Beaches Florida area
Snook fishing is very good in the Palm Beaches Florida area. Target them around the inlet, docks, mangroves and other areas and you’ll find some snook here year round. There is something special about the fishing during the mullet run each fall. This is the time of year when you can get into some very large snook that will often school up to feed on massive schools of finger mullet.
Snook Fishing Tips
Most anglers prefer to use lures for snook, but live baits such as jumbo shrimp and pilchards are some of the best baits to use. At times, snook can be super tough to catch on lures, but a lively shrimp or pilchard will usually still get plenty of bites even when they are picky. If you fish for bass in freshwater, the type of tackle will be similar to largemouth bass fishing except you may have to upsize the rod, reel and line a bit.
