West Palm Beach is the largest city in Palm Beach County with more than 117,000 people.  The city is separated from Palm Beach and the Lake Worth Lagoon.  There are plenty of restaurants, shops, bars and clubs to go along with so many outdoor recreational opportunities.

For anglers, the fishing can be amazing here since the Gulf Stream runs close to shore, so charter boats may only have to go out a few miles to fish for a variety of pelagic species of fish.  With the blue waters so close to shore, you can see some of the most beautiful water in Florida off of these beaches.


Riviera Beach / Singer Island


Riviera Beach and Singer Island is about 15 to 20 minutes from West Palm Beach and it is a very popular area to visit in Palm Beach County.  With the Palm Beach Inlet, Peanut Island, Sailfish Marina Resort, Phil Foster Park and access to the beach, this area attracts plenty of people year round.

West Palm Beach, Florida Inshore Fishing


In the West Palm Beach area, there are plenty of good areas to fish.  Anglers fish around the Palm Beach Inlet, also known as the Lake Worth Inlet, since the fishing can be very good around the inlet during the tidal changes.  There are some good bridges to fish in the lagoon to go along with plenty of mangroves, docks, shallow water flats and channels.  The snook fishing can be very good in the lagoon, but anglers also have a variety of other fish such as mangrove snapper, sheepshead, redfish, trout, flounder, jacks, mackerel and more.

West Palm Beach, Florida Nearshore Fishing


This area is very unique since the Gulf Stream waters are so close to the Palm Beach Inlet.  Excellent sport fishing starts so close to shore here that you can catch so many awesome species of fish even if you’re still in nearshore waters.  The usual nearshore fish are available such as tarpon, cobia, sharks, jacks, mackerel and more.  Mix in some mahi mahi that venture a little too close to shore and you have some really awesome opportunities in the waters around West Palm Beach, Florida.

West Palm Beach, Florida Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing


The Gulf Stream waters are super close to the Palm Beach Inlet.  At times, the Gulf Stream is only 1 mile out from the inlet.  The edge of the Gulf Stream is not always 1 mile out, but it usually is only a few miles out from the inlet, so you have some really good fishing waters very quickly when fishing out of this area.  Anglers target a variety of pelagic species such as sailfish, marlin, tuna, mahi mahi and wahoo.

While the pelagic species get so much attention here among the sport anglers, you can also bottom fish the reefs and wrecks for a variety of fish such as snapper, grouper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, amberjack, cobia, sharks, hogfish, tripletail, jack crevalle, barracuda and more.

West Palm Beach, Florida Shore Fishing


This area is known more for its amazing offshore fishing, but there are some good shore fishing opportunities as well.  Anglers have several parks and beach access points to get out here and enjoy some good fishing from the surf.
