Stuart, Florida is home to the Saint Lucie Inlet and some excellent inshore waters. Most anglers come here to target snook, but you can catch a variety of other fish in the inshore waters in this area.
Fish the Saint Lucie Inlet
The St. Lucie Inlet is famous for its excellent snook fishing, but there are a lot more species of fish to target here as well. The inlet is popular because it gives boaters access to the Atlantic Ocean. You need to be careful if you’re fishing the inlet because you will have plenty of current running through here and many large boats will be going in and out of the inlet throughout the day. However, there is room to fish here and many anglers do well from boats and from shore as well.
Fish the Saint Lucie River
The St. Lucie River is a good stretch of water and many anglers fish the river near Stuart, Florida. As you get closer to the ocean, the ratio of saltwater to freshwater gets a lot more salty, so plan on targeting a variety of saltwater species such as snook, redfish, sea trout, flounder and more saltwater species.
Fish the Jensen Beach to Jupiter Inlet Aquatic Preserve
This stretch of water is located in St. Lucie, Martin and the very northern part of Palm Beach counties. It extends from the southern corporate limits of Fort Pierce south to Jupiter Inlet, including the Peck Lake and Hobe Sound area.
Around Stuart, Florida, anglers catch a variety of fish species in this body of water, but the snook fishing is what most people think of when they hear of this part of Florida.
