Gray triggerfish are a popular reef species found offshore from the Cape San Blas and Port St. Joe region. These fish have tough mouths and are known for nibbling baits clean, but they also make excellent table fare. They are typically caught while bottom fishing on natural reefs and hard-bottom areas.

Triggerfish are commonly found:

On offshore reefs and wrecks

Along rocky ledges and drop-offs

Near artificial reefs and towers

Over hard-bottom zones 20–100 feet deep
