Palm Coast and Flagler Beach are laid back beach towns that are located in between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, Florida. This area is a lot less crowded, but there is still plenty to do if you want to plan a trip to Palm Coast or Flagler Beach. This area has miles of beaches, plenty of parks, beautiful waters of the Atlantic Ocean as well as plenty of inshore waters too. Anglers fish miles of uncrowded inshore waters in the Flagler Beach and Palm Coast area for redfish, sea trout, flounder and many other species of fish. For the offshore anglers, the nearest inlet is about 20 minutes north of Palm Coast at Matanzas Inlet.

Palm Coast / Flagler Beach, FL Inshore Fishing
The inshore waters of Palm Coast and Flagler Beach are home to a variety of saltwater species that you can target in the backwaters, creeks and some larger, open inshore waters as well up in the Palm Coast area. The Matanzas River runs through these towns and as you get further south towards the Flagler Beach / Ormond Beach area, anglers fish the Halifax River. The Palm Coast / Flagler Beach area receives less fishing pressure than the towns up north and down south and there are enough fishing charters to get you out on the water. Plan on fishing shallower water for redfish, sea trout, flounder, snook, black drum, mangrove snapper, sheepshead and more.

Palm Coast / Flagler Beach, FL Nearshore Fishing
In this area, it is a longer run to get out to the beaches since the nearest inlet is about 20 minutes from Palm Coast and even further from Flagler Beach. Some anglers do make the runs to go out and run the beaches to target cobia, tarpon, sharks, jacks, mackerel and more in the nearshore waters.

Palm Coast / Flagler Beach, FL Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing
In the Palm Coast, Florida area, some anglers do head 50 to 70 miles offshore to fish the Gulf Stream waters that are home to marlin, wahoo, tuna, sailfish, mahi mahi and king mackerel.
There are some offshore fishing charters out of this area and many of them will go offshore to fish the reefs and wrecks for a variety of fish such as snapper, grouper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, amberjack, cobia, sharks, hogfish, tripletail, jack crevalle, barracuda and more.

Palm Coast / Flagler Beach, FL Shore Fishing
With the Flagler Beach Fishing Pier out of commission due to the hurricane damage, the public beaches are the best spot for anglers to catch some nice fish from the shore. Surf fishing can definitely be hit or miss, but this is your best option for numbers and bigger fish if you do not have access to a boat.
