The Arkansas River begins in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains near Leadville, Colorado and ends in eastern Arkansas at the confluence with the Mississippi River.  This river flows almost 1,470 miles through Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas before entering the Mississippi River.  The Arkansas River is home to a diverse fishery with some excellent trout fishing as it flows through Colorado.  As it flows into Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, the fishery becomes more of a bass, crappie, catfish, carp and sunfish fishery.  There are some excellent fishing destination along this river in many different spots along the Arkansas River.

Broken Bow Lake is a large lake in Oklahoma and it is a popular recreational lake.  Anglers have lots of options here with good fishing available in the lake as well as in the tailwaters below the dam on the Lower Mountain Fork River.  In the lake, anglers target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and more.  In the tailwaters below the dam, anglers experience good trout fishing year round.

Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, also known as Grand Lake, is located in northeast Oklahoma in the foothills of the Ozark Mountain Range.  With over 46,000 acres of water and 1,300 miles of shoreline, there is plenty of room for fishermen and boaters to enjoy the lake.  This lake has some good fishing for bass, crappie, spoonbill and catfish.  Spoonbill are a type of paddlefish and there aren’t too many bodies of water in the country where you can hire a guide to target these fish.


Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula is a huge reservoir in Oklahoma that’s located on the Canadian River.  The lake covers more than 105,000 acres and has 800 miles of shoreline.  Lake Eufaula sits on the border between Alabama and Georgia.  Fishing is popular throughout the lake for a variety of fish species.  Anglers target huge crappie, big largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish too.


Lake Murray (Oklahoma)

Lake Murray is a beautiful lake in Oklahoma that is known for clear waters and good fishing.  The lake is much smaller than nearby Lake Texoma, however, it is still a large lake that covers more than 5,700 acres.  This lake can be tough on anglers due to its clear water, but if you know how to fish clear water lakes, you can have a lot of success here.  Most anglers target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and spotted bass, but you will also find white bass, crappie, catfish, walleye, bluegill and other sunfish in the lake.

Lake Tenkiller is a beautiful lake in Oklahoma with clear waters and excellent fishing.  It is a popular recreational lake that covers more than 12,000 surface acres with 130 miles of shoreline.  The bluffs provide amazing scenery along the shores.  The deep, clear water makes this the premier scuba lake in the state.  Anglers target a variety of fish including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish.  The smallmouth bass fishery has really taken off in the early 2000s and the smallmouth bass is what brings a lot of anglers to this lake.

Lake Texoma is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States.  Located along the Oklahoma – Texas border, this lake covers over 89,000 surface acres.  Lake Texoma is extremely popular among anglers and boaters alike.  The lake draws around 6 million annual visitors.
