Jordan Lake is a good-sized lake covering around 6,800 surface acres and about 188 miles of shoreline in Elmore County, Alabama.  The lake is a popular recreational lake for fishing and boating.  Anglers target a variety of fish such as largemouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more.

Lake Eufaula is a huge reservoir in Oklahoma that’s located on the Canadian River.  The lake covers more than 105,000 acres and has 800 miles of shoreline.  Lake Eufaula sits on the border between Alabama and Georgia.  Fishing is popular throughout the lake for a variety of fish species.  Anglers target huge crappie, big largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish too.

Lake Guntersville stretches 75 miles from Guntersville Dam to Nickajack Dam.  It is Alabama’s largest lake at 69,000 acres.  It is a popular lake for recreation such as fishing and boating.

Lake Guntersville is one of the best bass lakes in the country.  This lake is known for good numbers as well as quality fish.  Largemouth bass in the 7 to 8 pound range are caught every year and bass up to and above 10 pounds are possible.  It is a large lake and there are so many spots you can target largemouth bass here.  Even with all the fishing pressure on largemouths on this lake, it still produces.  Lake Guntersville does have good numbers of catfish available too.  Many anglers will target them near the Guntersville Dam, but you can catch them throughout the lake as well.  This lake has good fishing for channel catfish and blue catfish.  If you’re looking to target a real big fish, try fishing for the blue catfish.  They can get huge.  Fish over 40 and 50 pounds are possible.

Lake Martin in Alabama is known for its clear, deep waters, it’s beautiful scenery and an excellent multi-species fishery.  The lake is huge, covering more than 40,000 surface acres and over 750 miles of shoreline.  This lake definitely isn’t an easy lake to fish, however, for those who know how to target fish in deep, clear waters, there is a lot of opportunity to catch nice fish with a variety of fish species and some tremendous scenery.

Lake Wedowee is a man-made lake located in Alabama.  It covers around 10,000 surface acres and has over 270 miles of shoreline.  The lake has some great scenery while offering anglers a variety of fish to target such as largemouth bass, spotted bass, catfish, bluegill and catfish.

Lay Lake is a popular lake located a little more than 30 minutes south of Birmingham, Alabama.  The lake covers around 12,000 surface acres with a shoreline that stretches 289 miles.  Lay Lake offers good fishing for a variety of fish including largemouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, white bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill.  The tailwaters, below Logan Martin Dam, is a very popular fishing spot for a variety of fish species.

Lewis Smith Lake is a lot different than many of the lakes in Alabama.  This lake is home to very deep, clear, blue waters and it covers more than 21,000 surface acres.  With over 500 miles of shoreline, there are plenty of places to fish for a variety of different fish species.  Located about an hour north of Birmingham and south Huntsville, many anglers to enjoy spending a day on Lewis Smith Lake.  Anglers target a variety of fish including largemouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, trout, crappie, catfish and bluegill.


Logan Martin Lake

Logan Martin Lake is a large reservoir on the Coosa River system.  It is about 30 miles east of Birmingham, Alabama and it covers around 17,000 total surface acres.  This reservoir was built by the Alabama Power Company.  It is sandwiched in between 2 dams; Neely Henry Dam on the north and Logan Martin Dam on the south.  It is known as a good fishing lake for a variety of species.  Most anglers come here to target largemouth bass, but you may also catch spotted bass, striped bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish

Neely Henry Lake is located in northeast Alabama on the Coosa River.  It was created in by the Neely Henry Dam and the lake covers 11,200 surface acres with almost 340 miles of shoreline.  This lake is a popular lake for largemouth bass and spotted bass.  Other fish to target are striped bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and other sunfish.

Weiss Lake is a large lake located in Alabama and Georgia.  The lake covers around 30,000 surface acres and it is often referred to as the “Crappie Capitol of the World.”  While that is debatable, you cannot argue the fact that Weiss Lake is a incredible lake for crappie fishing.  There are large numbers of crappie and lots of big crappie caught every year.  There are other species of fish to target as well with largemouth bass, spotted bass, striped bass, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish.


West Point Lake

West Point Lake is a large reservoir located on the border of Alabama and Georgia.  The lake covers 26,000 acres and it is a popular recreational lake.  Fishing is very popular on the lake.  Anglers target many species of fish including largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish.


Wheeler Lake

Wheeler Lake is the 2nd of 4 northern Alabama impoundments on the Tennessee River.  Sandwiched between Guntersville and Wilson Lakes, Wheeler Lake is often overlooked for some of the more famous Alabama impoundments.  There are plenty of anglers who enjoy fishing Wheeler Lake for a variety of fish including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish and more.  Wheeler Lake runs around 60 miles and covers nearly 70,000 acres between the Guntersville and Wheeler Dams.  The lake has a lot of diversity in that you can fish major parts of the reservoir that will fish more like a river to go along with some large flats areas, backwaters and some nice deep water fishing options too.


Wilson Lake

Wilson Lake is a very popular destination for fishing and boating.  While nearby Pickwick Lake may get most of the national attention for its fishing, Wilson Lake can hold its own as a solid multi-species fishery.  Wilson lake is about half the size of Pickwick lake and it covers close to 16,000 surface acres of water.  This lake stretches from the Wilson Dam at Muscle Shoals, Alabama to the Wheeler Dam in Rogersville, Alabama.
