Boynton Beach is a nice town in southern Palm Beach County, Florida. This area is a popular deep sea / offshore fishing destination due to the Boynton Beach Inlet, which gives anglers quick access to the Atlantic Ocean. The edge of the Gulf Stream current is usually only several miles out from the inlet, so you can get out to some excellent sport fishing in a matter of minutes. This area is also known for its excellent beaches, parks, shopping and restaurants, which gives people plenty to do on a vacation to the Boynton Beach area.

Boynton Beach, Florida Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing
The Gulf Stream waters are super close to the Boynton Beach Inlet. At times, the Gulf Stream is only a few miles out from the inlet, which means you can be on some awesome fishing spots in a matter of minutes from clearing the inlet.
The sport fishing for pelagic species is what this area is known for, so many of the fishing charters are here for that specific reason. Plan on fishing the offshore waters for a variety of pelagic species such as sailfish, marlin, tuna, mahi mahi and wahoo.
While the pelagic species get so much attention here among the sport anglers, you can also bottom fish the reefs and wrecks for a variety of fish such as snapper, grouper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, amberjack, cobia, sharks, hogfish, tripletail, jack crevalle, barracuda and more.

Boynton Beach, Florida Nearshore Fishing
The nearshore fishing is very unique in this part of Florida since the Gulf Stream waters are so close to the Boynton Beach Inlet. Excellent sport fishing starts so close to shore here that you can catch so many awesome species of fish even though you still may be fishing nearshore waters. The usual nearshore fish are available such as tarpon, cobia, sharks, jacks, mackerel and more. Mix in some mahi mahi that venture a little too close to shore and you have some really awesome opportunities in the waters around Boynton Beach, Florida.

Boynton Beach, Florida Inshore Fishing
Boynton Beach is not known for its inshore fishing, but there are some inshore fishing opportunities for anglers in this area. Snook and jacks will get the most attention here and there can be some good snook fishing with the Boynton Beach Inlet. Many anglers prefer to night fish the docks with lights for snook. Night fishing works well since there isn’t a lot of inshore water to fish that is not crowded with large boats coming and going as they head out the inlet and back in each day. Some anglers do target other species of fish as well, but the offshore fishing is why most people come to Boynton Beach, Florida.

Boynton Beach, Florida Shore Fishing
This area does have some beach access and people do surf fish off the beaches. This area is very populated, however, these beaches tend to be less crowded than many other destinations in southeast Florida. Some of the beach access spots do not have a ton of parking, so make sure to get out there early to grab your spot. Anglers catch a variety of fish in the surf off these beaches, but for most anglers, the surf fishing is just ok in this area. The water can be absolutely beautiful with the Gulf Stream waters so close to the inlet.
The Boynton Inlet Pier is a popular pier for anglers, however, the fishing can definitely be hit or miss. Many different species of fish are caught off the pier, however, the reports here are underwhelming compared to other inlets in southeast Florida.
