Smallmouth Bass


Barron County is known more for its largemouth bass fishing than its smallmouth bass, but you can definitely target smallies here and catch some quality fish.  Silver Lake gets a lot of attention among smallmouth anglers.  It consistently holds good numbers of solid fish, however, it’s not a very big lake.  Red Cedar Lake gives anglers a better chance at a bigger fish, but you have to put the time in and learn to fish some of the offshore structure on this lake if you want to score some better smallmouth bass.  In many of the lakes in this area, smallmouth bass are available in very limited numbers.  To learn about some of the better smallmouth bass waters here, take a look below.


Hemlock Lake


Hemlock Lake is a 364 acre lake located in Barron County.  It has a maximum depth of 21 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass and panfish.  According to the DNR, largemouth bass and northern pike are common in the lake while walleye, smallmouth bass and panfish are listed as present.



Lower Devils Lake


Lower Devils Lake is a 131 acre lake located in Barron County.  It has a maximum depth of 26 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass and panfish.  According to the DNR, panfish are abundant in the lake while largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye are considered common.



Red Cedar Lake


Red Cedar Lake is a 1,897 acre lake located in Washburn, Barron Counties.  It has a maximum depth of 53 feet.   Fish include largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass and panfish.  According to the DNR, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye are common in the lake while panfish are listed as present.



Silver Lake


Silver Lake is a 331 acre lake located in Barron County.  It has a maximum depth of 91 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, trout and panfish.  According to the DNR, smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike and panfish are common in the lake while largemouth bass and trout are listed as present.
