Walleye and sauger love hanging around rocky areas. Rocky areas tend to hold all types of bait fish and the walleye and sauger will be close by to feed. The key to fishing these rocky areas is to make sure you are as close to the rocks as possible without getting snagged up. Vertical jigging with live bait, blade baits and jigging spoons will all work well around the rocks. Casting or trolling crankbaits and spinner rigs will also take plenty of fish along the rocks as well.
Fish the Breaklines Along The Rocky Shorelines
The breaklines will usually hold some fish as walleye will often come out of the deeper water to ambush bait fish in the shallower water along these shorelines.
In Rivers, Rocks & Boulders Can Be Awesome Spots
In the rivers, large rocks and boulders will create current breaks near the bottom. These spots can be huge for holding good numbers of walleye and big walleye too. Find some of these larger boulders in the river and try fishing just down river of them where the slack water would be.
