Barracuda
The barracuda is a very strong, exciting fish. Most anglers fishing are often annoyed by the barracuda because it will tear up carefully prepared baits for other types of fish. Barracuda are known for snatching up baits from trolling fishermen targeting sailfish and also from flats fishermen that are fishing for tarpon, permit or bonefish. The barracuda are long with sharp teeth and they have similar attributes as the freshwater northern pike. If you enjoy northern pike fishing, you will love fishing for barracuda. Catching Barracuda Barracuda will hit a variety of different baits. Jigs take most barracuda; however, they can be caught on any type of lure that resembles a bait fish. Many anglers use a 6 to 8 inch piece of plastic tubing slipped over a piece of leader material and a small treble hook tied to the end of the leader. This rig is worked on the surface and it drives barracuda wild. They will attack the lure and make a strong run as soon as they are hooked. They are fun to catch, but they are not very good table fare. Most fish are released immediately.
