The Muskegon River is located in the western portion of Michigan. The river's
headwaters are Houghton Lake, which is located in Roscommon County.  This river
flows out of North Bay into Missaukee County and then to Muskegon where it empties
into Muskegon Lake.  Muskegon Lake is connected to Lake Michigan through a mile-
long channel.  The Muskegon River produces some good fishing for salmon,
