Anchorage is Alaska's largest city and its population consists of around 40 percent of
Alaska's entire population. Many fishermen fly into Anchorage, then drive to one of the
many popular fishing areas south of Anchorage.
There are a few fishing resorts in Anchorage that offer some very good fishing, but
most people do head south to the towns of Cooper Landing, Kenai, Soldotna, Homer,
Ninilchik and Seward. If you plan a fishing trip to this part of Alaska during the salmon
spawning runs, it will be hard not to catch fish. This region offers some of the finest
fishing in the entire world. If you are having some trouble, it is a good idea to hire a
fishing guide. If you time it right, a fishing guide should be able to put you on plenty of
fish.
