soft plastics pikeSoft plastics work very well for northern pike, however, you may go through many soft plastics when fishing for pike because of their teeth and aggressiveness.  The soft plastics that are soft and not very durable will easily tear when fishing for pike.  Make sure to use soft plastics that are more durable and you will go through less baits.  Some of the best soft plastics to use for pike are swimbaits, creature baits, curly tail worms and minnow baits.  Any bait that has a nice swimming motion will usually work well for pike. Swim your soft plastics with a slow and steady retrieve around weeds and you should catch some pike.

If I am just targeting big pike, that will definitely change what baits I will be throwing.  I’m not looking for action at this point, but I do usually choose big fish baits that will still give me some action while searching for the big fish.  These 3 are my go to big pike lures that will still get you plenty of bites in between big fish bites.
