Seasons

Sheepshead move to nearshore and offshore waters to spawn from late winter through early spring.  The smaller fish will stay in the inshore areas though, so there will still be plenty of fish to catch inshore if you are targeting them.  For the other parts of the year, you’re going to find plenty of sheepshead in their typical hangouts throughout the inshore waters.

Many anglers report the inshore fishing is very good in Florida during the winter time, so before these fish move offshore to spawn, you can find them all over the bays, creeks and canals in the winter and they are willing to eat.  As water temperatures drop, find the warmer water in the backwater areas and you’ll catch plenty of sheepshead inshore.
