Best Techniques

Casting

You can definitely cast lures to target sea bass.  When the fish are shallower, anglers will cast jigs with soft plastics and tipped with live baits.  You can also catch sea bass on crankbaits and some other types of lures.  Cover some water and catch more fish.

Still Fishing

Still fishing is very common for sea bass.  Drop your baits down on a productive spot and wait for the bites.

Drifting

Drifting will help you cover a little more water and find active fish.  This technique works better when you have big pieces of structure to fish.

Jigging

When you are on top of a school of sea bass, jigging can be very effective.

Trolling

Some anglers troll for sea bass.  Slow troll with live baits or break out the crankbaits and other lures that you’d like to use for these fish.  It’s not the most popular way to fish for them, but it can be productive.
