The Towns of Red River


Fargo, North Dakota


Fargo is the largest city in North Dakota and it is the county seat of Cass County.  It is located in southeastern North Dakota on the Red River of the North and had a population of nearly 126,000 people in 2020.  Fishing is popular in the river and you have plenty of lodging and dining options to go along with plenty of modern day conveniences in this city.



Moorhead, Minnesota


Moorhead is a lot smaller than Fargo, but it is basically its next door neighbor.  You will find lodging and dining options in Moorhead, but there is a lot more available just over the river in Fargo, North Dakota.



Grand Forks, North Dakota


Grand Forks is a city in Grand Forks County, North Dakota.  It’s the third largest city in North Dakota and is located on the Red River of the North.  As of 2020, the city had a population of nearly 60,000 people.  There are a lot of lodging and dining options in this city.  Just like with Fargo and Moorhead, you are going to find that it is built up much more in North Dakota than in Minnesota.



East Grand Forks, Minnesota


East Grand Forks is a city in Polk County, Minnesota.  The population was a little more than 9,000 in 2020.  It is a smaller community, but when you combine it with its neighbor just over the river (Grand Forks, ND), you have everything you need to enjoy a fishing trip to this part of the Red River.



Pembina, North Dakota


Pembina is a small city that gives anglers access to the river.



St. Vincent, Minnesota


St. Vincent is a small city that gives anglers access to the river.



Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada)


Winnipeg is the largest city in the province of Manitoba in Canada.  It is also the capital of the province.  Winnipeg is located at the intersection of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers.  This is a big city with plenty to do here and the fishing can be excellent on Red River of the North.
