Area Waters

Pickle Lake

Pickle Lake is a decent-sized lake with just a few islands and lots of rock.  It’s not a hard lake to fish and it’s loaded with fish.  There are tons of walleye in the lake with some good pike fishing too.  It’s not known as a big trophy lake, although, some quality fish are in here.  It is a lake that is known for producing big numbers of catches per day.  It is possible to catch 100 plus walleye in a day here with 2 people fishing in a boat.

Lake St. Joseph

Lake St. Joseph is one of the best drive to fishing lakes in Ontario.  This lake is unique because it is such a big numbers lake, but there are so many trophy fish here too.  You can catch tons of fish here and trophy walleye and pike are available too.  It’s a big lake and it gets minimal fishing pressure due to the special regulations on the lake.  If you get a chance to fish here, you will enjoy it.  Lake St. Joseph is an awesome walleye and pike lake.

Other Waters

This area does have several other lakes that you can fish and the fishing can be outstanding in many different places up here.  Some of the smaller lakes won’t have boat launches though, so you’ll need to drop a rowboat in.  The town of Pickle Lake put in boat launches at Mud Lake (Badesdwa), Menako Lake, Pipestone River and Mawley Lake.  There are several fly-in fishing outposts that also offer some excellent fishing for walleye, pike, lake trout and even brook trout.
