Neko Rig

The Neko rig is a unique rig and it’s becoming very popular among many anglers.  As you can see in the tank to the left, the hook is in the center of the bait and the weight is at the head of the bait.  In this case, it’s a screw that is screwed into the head of the worm.  Some anglers use small nails too.

Basically, you are going to be walking the head of your bait along the bottom.  It’s very effective for many of the bigger soft plastic baits such as large worms, wacky style worms, lizards and creature baits.  Anglers usually use this technique for bass usually.

Wacky Worms

Wacky worms look great on a Neko rig.  It’s another way to present these baits to try and stand out a little bit.  Whether you are fishing a highly pressured lake or not, this rig flat out works.

Lizards

A lizard looks great on a Neko rig.  It may not be the best way to present this bait as far as action goes, but it’s a great way to rig it and it works well for bass.

Creature Baits

Some creature baits look really good on a Neko rig.  It’s just a different way to be able to present these baits that can help draw a few more strikes than normal.

Big Worms

This rig works better with bigger baits and big worms are great for the Neko rig.  The 10, 11 and 12 inch worms are just awesome baits for the Neko rig.
