The inshore waters around Miami offer some exciting fishing opportunities. With the bays, bridges, passes, docks, flats and islands, there are so many areas to target a variety of different fish. The most popular fish that anglers target here inshore are snook, redfish, tarpon, sea trout and bonefish, but there are many other species of fish to catch as well.

Miami, FL Nearshore Fishing


Anglers do run the beaches to fish the nearshore waters around Miami to search for a variety of different fish. Some of the popular fish that are caught are kingfish, cobia, sharks, Spanish Mackerel, tarpon and there several others also. The time of year will dictate what fish will be more prevalent in the nearshore waters.


Miami, FL Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing


Deep Sea fishing is popular out of the Miami, Florida area. There are a number of fishing charters here and there is quick access to the Atlantic Ocean. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the fish that are targeted here offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, king mackerel, amberjack, barracuda, sharks, mahi mahi, tuna, billfish, wahoo, sailfish and others.

Miami, FL Shore Fishing


The Miami area offers plenty of shore fishing spots to go along with miles of beaches to fish as well. The beaches can get crowded here, so it may not always be easy to find a place to fish away from people, especially during the peak travel seasons. Some of the fish you may catch here from the piers are snook, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, flounder, pompano, cobia, tarpon, sharks, kingfish, spanish mackerel and others. From the surf, anglers usually target whiting, pompano, snook and redfish, but depending on the season, you may also be able to catch spanish mackerel, black drum, flounder, sheepshead, sharks and other species of fish.
