Fish the Vegetation in the Bays

The bays provide excellent action in the spring and early summer as they move into these areas to get ready for the spawn and this lake has plenty of rice beds, cabbage beds and bulrush beds that are great areas to target largemouth bass.  Fish up to 5 pounds are fairly common on this lake, which is outstanding for a bass fishing lake in the northern part of the country.

On Leech Lake, the largemouth bass stay fairly shallow from spring through fall, so plan on finding most of the largemouth bass that you’re going to catch in 6 feet of water and less.
