The Weightless Rig (also called Free Lining Rig) works well for largemouth bass, especially when bass are found near any type of shallow water cover.  The weightless rig gives your live bait a chance to swim free (bait fish) or slowly fall to the bottom with an enticing wiggle (leeches & nightcrawlers).  With soft plastics, you give bass a good chance to eat your lure by twiching your bait and letting it free fall towards the bottom.  Many strikes will come on the free fall.  This rig keeps your bait or lure in the strike zone longer, which will attract many more bites when the bass are shallow.
