The Detroit River is famous for its annual walleye run in the spring. So many walleye move into this river to spawn that anglers catch lots of walleye to go along with so many trophy-sized fish. The big females that come in the river to spawn will be some of the biggest fish caught every year for most anglers. The river also has good fishing for other species of fish too. Since it is connected to Lake Erie and Lake Saint Clair, you will find a variety of fish here. Smallmouth bass, muskie, white bass. perch and more can be caught here.
You aren’t far from Lake Erie if you’re coming to visit Lake St. Clair. Anglers fish this part of Lake Erie mostly for walleye and perch, but some parts will also have some good smallmouth bass fishing too. Toledo is a popular port for anglers to fish for walleye and perch out of, but you have more options. There is a lot of water to fish here on the U.S. and Canadian side.
Lake Huron is also close by and some anglers do spend some time on Lake Huron as well. The fishing is good for salmon and trout, however, the lake trout fishery is what most people come to fish Lake Huron for and this area does have some charters that can help put you on some fish here.
