Fishing with a Jig & Stinger Hook

Stinger hooks help when fish are biting your baits short.
You can use these with soft plastics, however, most anglers use the jig and stinger hook when using live bait.  Use this rig for nightcrawlers, leeches and minnows when the fish are biting short and you should be able to catch more fish.

Soft Plastics

Bigger soft plastics are perfect for the jig and stinger hook.  Most anglers use the jig and stinger hook when fishing for walleye, however, it can help when fishing for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike and many other species of fish.  Smallmouth bass and walleye are notorious for biting short, so stinger hooks work well when fishing for those species of fish.  Pike are known for hitting a bigger bait in the middle of the bait, so a stinger hook can work well when fishing for pike with soft plastics as well.
