Inshore Fishing


The Jacksonville area has so much water to fish inshore. some awesome inshore fishing available. This area has tons of backwater to fish with the rivers and creeks. The passes offer some very good fishing also during the tidal changes. Some of the popular fish to catch inshore here are redfish and sea trout, but you may also catch a variety of other fish such as sheepshead, ladyfish, pompano, sharks, bluefish, black drum and jack crevalle.

Nearshore Fishing


The nearshore waters around Jacksonville can offer some good fishing for kingfish, cobia, sharks, Spanish Mackerel, tarpon and several other species of fish. The time of year will dictate what fish will be more prevalent in the nearshore waters.

Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing


Jacksonville is known for its inshore fishing, but you can definitely experience some excellent offshore fishing in the offshore waters around Jacksonville.  There are numerous wrecks in these waters that hold a variety of different fish.  You will be able to find some deep sea fishing charters that operate in this area to help take you out on a fishing trip.  The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the fish that are targeted here offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, kingfish, amberjack, barracuda, sharks, mahi mahi, tuna, billfish, wahoo and others.

Shore Fishing


Pier Fishing

The Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier gives anglers the opportunity to catch a variety of different fish while enjoying some spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. From the pier, you may catch sheepshead, flounder, pompano, tarpon, sharks, Spanish mackerel, whiting, flounder, redfish, trout, whiting, bluefish, kingfish and others. The Mayport Jetties are also a popular spot to fish from the shore or from a boat. This area gets a ton of fishing pressure, but the St. Augustine Inlet consistently holds fish year round.

Surf Fishing

From the surf, anglers usually target pompano, redfish, Spanish mackerel, black drum, sheepshead, sharks and other species of fish are also possible. There are plenty of places to fish along the beaches in this area. Fish during the tidal changes and you should be able to catch some fish from the beach in this area.

Your best bet for live baits and any tackle that you forgot to bring on your trip.

These stores are the place to go if you’re looking for fishing equipment and tackle.
Grocery Stores (Winn Dixie, Publix, etc.) These are not a bad option for dead baits such as shrimp, squid & more.
