Welcome to our Indian River Area Home Page

Indian River is an unincorporated community in Cheboygan County.  It’s a small town, but there are a couple of lakes here that make this area so special.  Indian River is named after the river which flows through it and it is nestled between Burt Lake and Mullett Lake.  These 2 lakes are the main reason most people visit this area.  However, there are some other lakes nearby that are worth fishing too.

Learn About the Fish

Primary Species of Fish
Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Perch

This part of Michigan is definitely known for its walleye, smallmouth bass and perch fishing.  There are plenty of other species of fish here, however anglers love targeting walleye and perch for the dinner table.   There are some absolute giant smallmouth bass available in Burt Lake and Mullett Lake, which brings a lot of anglers to this area every spring and fall.

Secondary Species of Fish
Northern Pike, Muskie, Trout, Bluegill & Other Panfish

Northern pike are common in many of the lakes in this area and there are some quality fish caught too.  Occasionally, you’ll see a pike in 40 inch range show up in the local fishing reports as well.  Muskie are here on some of the lakes.  Trout, sturgeon, bluegill, rock bass and other panfish round out the fishery here.
