The grayling is a species of freshwater fish in the salmon family. Identifying grayling is easy because of their incredibly large dorsal fin. These fish are available to North American anglers in parts of Alaska and Canada. Grayling will feed below and above the surface for a variety of baits such as smaller fish and aquatic insects. Anglers typically fish for grayling with fly fishing gear. Some of the popular flies that anglers use are mayflies, stone flies and caddisflies.
