For the anglers that like to fish from a pier, the Venice Fishing Pier is a great one to fish. You may catch a variety of different fish off the pier, but some of the more popular fish that anglers target here are snook, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, flounder, pompano, cobia, tarpon, sharks, kingfish, spanish mackerel, whiting, pompano and others.
Anglers can also surf fishing along the beaches of Venice. This part of Florida is not nearly as crowded as some of the popular beach destinations, so you should be able to find a place to fish the surf here. You can expect to find some of the usual southwest Florida fish along the beaches here such as whiting, pompano, spanish mackerel, snook, sharks and others.
The jetties at Venice Inlet will also give anglers the opportunity to catch some nice fish without needing a boat. Many different types of fish will come through the inlet as they move back and forth from the Gulf to the inshore waters of Venice. You may run into any of the fish that were listed above while fishing the inlet. Make sure to fish the tidal changes in the inlet. The moving water is key for most species of fish to go on the feed.
