Tarpon Springs is located on the west central coast of Florida. The Anclote River, runs for 29 miles near Tarpon Springs, Florida and flows westward towards the Gulf of Mexico from its source of creeks and springs inland. The river is home to a variety of fish and wildlife. Anclote River is home to the sponging and fishing industries of Tarpon Springs. It is a major site for tourists of the area as it flows through the Sponge Docks of Tarpon Springs. The fishing in this area is very good. Anglers target a variety of fish here such as redfish, sea trout, tarpon, grouper, snapper, snook, sheepshead, sharks and more. Anglers also can fish for largemouth bass on nearby Lake Tarpon.
