Fishing Techniques: Bottom Bouncing

bottom-bouncersBottom bouncing is the term used for fishing with bottom bouncers.  Bottom bouncing is very popular in freshwater among walleye anglers.  They usually use this rig to get them on the bottom, but also help keep them from getting snagged up.  It’s very effective.  Most freshwater anglers will troll these with spinner rigs, but you can also use live bait and many different artificial lures too.  When the wind is blowing quite a bit, you could drift these as well.

In saltwater, this setup is not very popular, but there is no reason why it shouldn’t be.  It might spook some fish in clear water, but if you have a 3 to 4 foot fluorocarbon leader attached to the bottom bouncer, you should still get plenty of bites whether you’re fishing with live baits or artificials.
