Fishing Lake Nipissing in the Spring

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
March 35° / 11°
April 50° / 26°
May 64° / 38°

Lake Nipissing is a shallow lake, so the early season bite can be outstanding by the time the walleye opener comes around.  A large amount of fish will still be shallow, so anglers can target northern pike and walleye along the shorelines and in the bays.  The smallmouth bass bite picks up towards the end of May as they start congregating along the shorelines to get ready to spawn.

Fishing Lake Nipissing in the Summer

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
June 72° / 47°
July 77° / 53°
August 75° / 51°

As June rolls around, the bite stays good for walleye and pike and the bass bite continues to pick up for both smallmouth and largemouth bass.  As water temperatures warm towards the end of June, summer patterns start to set in, so plan on finding a lot more fish on offshore structure.  Anglers catch plenty of walleye, pike and bass all summer long.  The muskie opener also brings some anglers here as they target the huge muskie that call Lake Nipissing home.

Fishing Lake Nipissing in the Fall

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
September 64° / 43°
October 52° / 33°
November 37° / 24°

The fall provides some very good fishing too.  Because the lake is shallow, it can cool down quickly once the cold fronts start rolling in.  This lake will turn over earlier due to the shallower water, so take advantage of the good fall bite while it lasts.

Fishing Lake Nipissing in the Winter (Ice Fishing)

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 24° / 5°
January 18° / -5°
February 23° / -2°

Ice fishing is very popular on Lake Nipissing.  Anglers target walleye, pike and perch all winter long.
