Brook Trout


Lake Nipigon is home to some awesome brook trout fishing.  Get here in the spring and fall and you can target them in fairly shallow water on Lake Nipigon.  The average size fish is so much bigger here, which is what draws many anglers to visit Lake Nipigon.  This area is also unique because there are several other waters you can target brook trout here as well.  The Nipigon River provides very good fishing for brook trout and several of the smaller lakes in the area will offer good fishing with almost no fishing pressure.

Nipigon Bay


Nipigon Bay offers good fishing for a variety of fish.  Anglers target brook trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, coho salmon, pink salmon, northern pike, perch, whitefish and more.


Nipigon River


The Nipigon River is known as a great river for targeting brook trout.  Fish it from shore in some areas to fish it in a boat.  There are several guides that target the brook trout in this river as well to help put you on some of the better spots.  There are some quality fish in this river too, so don’t be surprised if you get a shot to catch some big brook trout.  Steelhead also run the areas rivers, so if you time it right, you may find some good fishing for steelhead in the spring and fall.


Jessie Lake


Jessie Lake is known for its excellent brook trout and lake trout fishing.  Anglers also catch burbot and whitefish.  It is a popular lake for ice fishing due to easy access off of the highway.  Anglers do well for lake trout through the ice.


Lofquist Lake


You have road access from Cameron Falls Rd.  This lake is stocked with Nipigon strain brook trout, walleye, splake and burbot.
