Kenora, Ontario is the most popular part of Lake of the Woods. This is where you are going to find the most services, the most people and basically everything you will need for an ideal fishing vacation. The downside is that you will see more people fishing here than on other parts of Lake of the Woods, but with a 15 to 20 minute boat ride, you can easily find some water all to yourself. This is an amazing part of Lake of the Woods that gives you the feel of being around everything while also still feeling like you are getting away from it all. It’s an awesome destination.

Kenora is home to some of the better smallmouth bass fishing you will find anywhere. The only downside is that you probably will run into a lot of smaller bass while trying to catch the big one. It’s a numbers destination with some big fish too. If you know what you are doing, you can catch a lot of 2 to 3 pound smallmouth bass. In early June, catching 50 to 100 smallmouth bass wouldn’t be out of the question here. The walleye fishing is very good too for the anglers that target them. Good numbers of fish and trophy fish are here. Northern pike, muskie, some largemouth bass, perch and even crappie are possible here. Take a look at our Kenora Fishing Tips page for more information.
