Northern Pike


There are so many places to catch northern pike in Chippewa & Rusk County.  Lake Wissota is located right in town and it is a good lake for northern pike.  There are a few other bigger lakes to fish that offer plenty of pike too.  Don’t rule out many of the smaller lakes in these counties though because anglers catch plenty of pike with some big fish too on many of the smaller lakes in this area.  We listed the lakes in the area with the larger lakes first, then the smaller lakes further below.

Lake Wissota


Lake Wissota is a 6,148 acre lake located in Chippewa County.  It has a maximum depth of 64.4 feet.  Visitors have access to the lake from many different public boat landings.  The lake also has a public beach.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while northern pike, muskie, smallmouth bass and catfish are considered common.  Largemouth bass, sturgeon and panfish are listed as present.

Holcombe Flowage


Holcombe Flowage is a 2,881 acre lake located in Rusk, Chippewa Counties.  It has a maximum depth of 62 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from many public boat landings.  There is also a public beach on the lake.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while muskie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, sturgeon and panfish are considered common.  Catfish are listed as present.

Dairyland Reservoir (Flambeau)


Dairyland Reservoir (Flambeau) is a 1,870 acre lake located in Rusk County.  It has a maximum depth of 70 feet.  Visitors have access to the lake from many different public boat landings.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while smallmouth bass and muskie are considered common.  Largemouth bass, northern pike, sturgeon, catfish and panfish are listed as present.

Chippewa Falls Flowage 5555


Chippewa Falls Flowage 5555 is a 954 acre lake located in Eau Claire, Chippewa Counties.  It has a maximum depth of 29 feet.  Visitors have access to the lake from several public boat landings.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while smallmouth bass and catfish are considered common.  Muskie, northern pike, largemouth bass, sturgeon and panfish are listed as present.

Long Lake


Long Lake is a 936 acre lake located in Chippewa County.  It has a maximum depth of 101 feet.  Visitors have access to the lake from several public boat landings.  The lake also has a public beach.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while muskie, smallmouth bass, pike and panfish are considered common.  Largemouth bass are listed as present.

Cornell Flowage


Cornell Flowage is a 897 acre lake located in Chippewa County.  It has a maximum depth of 55.7 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while muskie, northern pike, smallmouth bass, catfish and panfish are common.  Largemouth bass are listed as present.

Otter Lake (Brown)


Otter Lake (Brown) is a 602 acre lake located in Chippewa County.  It has a maximum depth of 43 feet.  Visitors have access to the lake from several public boat landings.  Fish include largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye and panfish.  According to the DNR, all of these species are considered common in the lake.

Island Lake


Island Lake is a 543 acre lake located in Rusk County.  It has a maximum depth of 54 feet.  Visitors have access to the lake from multiple public boat landings.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while muskie and northern pike are common.  Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and panfish are listed as present.  The water is moderately clear.

Amacoy Lake


Amacoy Lake is a 283 acre lake located in Rusk County.  It has a maximum depth of 20 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, panfish are abundant in the lake while walleye, muskie and largemouth bass are common.  Smallmouth bass, northern pike and catfish are listed as present.

Audie Lake


Audie Lake is a 110 acre lake located in Rusk County.  It has a maximum depth of 32 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, muskie, northern pike and panfish.  According to the DNR, all of these species are listed as present in the lake.

Big Falls Flowage


Big Falls Flowage is a 281 acre lake located in Rusk County.  It has a maximum depth of 45 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, smallmouth bass and walleye are common in the lake while the other species are listed as present.

Chain Lake is a 454 acre lake located in Rusk, Chippewa Counties.  It has a maximum depth of 74 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are abundant in the lake while largemouth bass, northern pike, muskie and panfish are considered common.  Smallmouth bass are listed as present.  The water is murky.

Fireside Lakes


Fireside Lakes is a 211 acre lake located in Rusk County.  The fishing is good here for multiple species of fish.  The lake is known as a good lake for big crappie as well as having northern pike, largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill and muskie.

Ladysmith Flowage


Ladysmith Flowage is a 268 acre lake located in Rusk County.  It has a maximum depth of 19 feet.  Fish include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskie, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, catfish and panfish.  According to the DNR, walleye are common in the lake and the other species listed are present.

Marsh-Miller Lake (Mill Pond)
