The blue catfish is a very large type of catfish that is primarily distributed in the Mississippi River drainage that includes the Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Arkansas rivers. Some other blue catfish hotspots are the Santee Cooper Lakes, Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie of South Carolina. In July 2010, a new world record catfish was weighed in at 130 lbs.
