Anglers target a variety of fish such as trout, flounder, redfish, sheepshead, jack crevalle, black drum and more. Redfish and trout are the preferred species of fish for most anglers.

Port Arthur, TX

This area is an awesome inshore fishing destination. Check out Sabine Lake for good numbers of redfish and sea trout to go along with a variety of other fish too. You will find several guides who focus on just the inshore waters here. Fish in a bay boat, small boat or try a kayak. Either way, the calm inshore waters here will give you a lot of options.

Seadrift, TX

Seadrift is home to some very good inshore fishing. The waters are protected here and you will see plenty of small boats out in the bay fishing safely. In the bay, most anglers are going to be targeting redfish and trout, but several other types of fish can be caught here too.

South Padre Island, TX

Redfish, speckled trout and flounder get the most attention along the Texas coast among inshore anglers and that goes for the South Padre Island area as well.  Laguna Madre offers some excellent bay fishing opportunities.  Other fish you may catch in the bay are snook, tarpon, jack crevalle, sheepshead and black drum.  There other species of fish here to catch as well.  Whether you are fishing the docks, inlets, passes, jetties, the many little islands or flats, there’s somewhere you can go to catch some fish here inshore.

Virginia

Virginia Beach

Take a short boat ride into Chesapeake Bay or take a short drive in the truck to go launch your boat in nearby Chesapeake Bay.  The bay is home to the largest inshore fishing area in the country.  There are so many places you can fish here without needing a huge boat, however, because the bay is so large, it can get quite rough even though, it is protected well from the Atlantic Ocean.  Inshore, striped bass are the most popular sport fish targeted in this area.  However, there are plenty of other fish you can catch inshore here.  Anglers target bluefish, sea bass, sea trout, flounder and sharks too.  It’s a tremendous inshore fishery.
