Florida Keys – Rating 10.0
The Florida Keys consist of Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine Key and Key West. The Keys are one of the top vacation destinations in Florida. You can enjoy the warm weather and relax or get involved with all of the activities such as boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, eco tours, fishing and more. If you could pick just one place to do some saltwater fishing, the Florida Keys would be it. More than 10 percent of the IGFA saltwater line class and fly fishing world records have been set in the Florida Keys. Go offshore with a charter and you have a chance at catching a monster sailfish or one of many different species of fish. Over 200 other species are located throughout the crystal clear water of the Florida Keys.
Bahamas – Rating 10.0
Fishermen come to the Bahamas from all over the world to experience the excellent saltwater fishing. Bonefish get a lot of the recognition, but that’s not all that you can catch here. There are numerous fishing charters available for offshore fishing and some of the species that are available are marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi, tuna and kingfish.
The Caribbean – Rating 10.0
The Caribbean has some of the best fishing in the world. People come from all over the world to experience a Caribbean fishing vacation. Fly fishing for bonefish is very popular here, but don’t rule out some of the fantastic inshore and offshore fishing for a variety of other fish such as tarpon, sharks, bluefish, billfish, barracuda, kingfish, amberjack, grouper and snapper.
Emerald Coast (FL) – Rating 10.0
Florida’s Emerald Coast is home to Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island. This area is known as an unbelievable fishing vacation destination for a variety of inshore and offshore fish. This area also has some great beaches, plenty of accommodations, restaurants, attractions, shopping and outdoor recreation. There is a full fleet of charter boats in this area that are capable of going offshore. Whether you are targeting grouper and snapper on the bottom or trolling for open water fish, this is an awesome offshore destination.
Fort Lauderdale Area (FL) – Rating 10.0
This area is an excellent vacation destination. You will find plenty of places to stay, tons of recreational opportunities and some excellent fishing opportunities. There are miles of beeches available as well in Deerfield Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Hollywood Beach and Hallandale Beach. If you are interested in fishing offshore, you will find many fishing charters operate out of Fort Lauderdale.
Captiva & Sanibel Islands (FL) – Rating 10.0
The islands of Captiva & Sanibel provide one of the best fishing vacation destinations in the country. This area may be a little pricey, but you have everything you can possibly want in a beach vacation destination of Florida. This area is known for its inshore fishing, but the offshore fishing is also very good here too.
Panama City Beach (FL) – Rating 10.0
Located in Northwest Florida, this area has tons of water to fish inshore and offshore. There is a large fleet of boats here that are large enough to fish offshore. Try bottom fishing for grouper and snapper or trolling for a variety of open water species of fish.
Stuart (FL) – Rating 9.5
This area is known as the “Sailfish Capital of the World.” Anglers target more than just sailfish here though. There are many fishing charters that operate out of Stuart, Florida and they target fish inshore and offshore. Offshore, you can target billfish, grouper, snapper and more.
The Tampa Bay (FL) – Rating 9.5
The Tampa Bay area and its beaches provides tourists with a nice variety of entertainment and recreation. The fishing can be excellent with many inshore and offshore opportunities. Offshore, anglers can catch a variety of different fish such as grouper, snapper, sharks and more.
New Smyrna Beach (FL) – Rating 9.5
New Smyrna Beach is a fairly small town with lots to do. There are 13 miles of white, sandy beaches, plenty of accommodations, boating, fishing and much more to keep you busy. New Smyrna Beach is only about an hour and 10 minute drive from downtown Orlando. Many families that visit Orlando will come to this beach for a day or two on their trip. Fishing is very good in this area. Offshore anglers head out of to the Atlantic Ocean for a variety of different fish. This area has a fleet of offshore charters that can put you on some fish.
Sebastian (FL) – Rating 9.5
is a small town located just south of the Space Coast. This area doesn’t attract as many visitors as some of the towns just to the north, but there is still plenty to do in Sebastian. With the inlet in Sebastian, you can get out to the Atlantic Ocean quickly and there are several deep sea fishing charters that can take you out on a fishing trip. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the fish that are targeted here offshore are grouper,snapper, cobia, king mackerel, amberjack, barracuda, sharks, mahi mahi, tuna, billfish,wahoo and others.
Steinhatchee (FL) – Rating 9.5
Steinhatchee doesn’t have a ton of deep water close in, but there are enough structures to fish here offshore that anglers have a lot of success fishing for a variety of different fish. Some of the popular fish that anglers target offshore here are grouper, snapper, cobia, king mackerel, king mackerel, sheepshead, mangrove snapper and others.
St. Augustine (FL) – Rating 9.25
When you come to visit St. Augustine, you will get a taste of old and new. This town has a rich history and is filled with cultural diversity as well as the emerging resorts, restaurants and shops that visitors love. Fishing in St. Augustine and St. Johns County is excellent. Use the inlet to get out into the Atlantic Ocean for a variety of species of fish.
Amelia Island (FL) – Amelia Island is known more for its inshore fishing, but there is some excellent offshore fishing in the offshore waters near Amelia Island. There are some deep sea fishing charters that operate in this area that should be available to take you out on a fishing trip. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the fish that are targeted here offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, king mackerel, amberjack, barracuda, sharks, mahi mahi, tuna, billfish, wahoo and others.
Pensacola (FL) – The Pensacola area has some very good fishing offshore. Many anglers fish out of the Pensacola area and there are plenty of fishing charters that can take you out for an offshore fishing trip. You will find plenty of offshore structures here that will hold many different species of fish. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the popular fish that are caught offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, amberjack, king mackerel, barracuda, sharks and others.
Apalachicola (FL) – The Apalachicola area is a nice beach vacation destination without the crowds. The fishing here can be outstanding, especially in the Apalachicola Bay. This area is known for its fantastic inshore fishing for a variety of species such as redfish, trout, pompano, sheepshead and tarpon, but you also have the option of fishing for grouper, snapper and many others offshore.
Miami (FL) is a large city in southern Florida. It is known for its diversity, beautiful people, an energetic night life, gorgeous beaches and plenty of water sports. Most people come to visit Miami for its outstanding night life, but there is also plenty to do here during the day. Fishing and boating are very popular. Offshore fishing is fantastic for a variety of species and there are plenty of charters available to take you out for a memorable trip.
The Port St. Lucie (FL) area is home to some excellent fishing offshore for a variety of different fish. Most anglers have heard of Stuart, Florida for its excellent deep sea fishing. This is where most of the deep sea charters operate from. The nearby St. Lucie Inlet gives them access to the Atlantic Ocean where you can target a variety of fish. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the fish that are targeted here offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, king mackerel, amberjack, barracuda, sharks, mahi mahi, tuna,billfish, wahoo and others.
Palm Beach County (FL) – Palm Beach County is a very large county with over 30 cities and more than 1 million residents. This area is very popular for tourism with many people flocking to Jupiter, West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and Boca Raton. There are some beautiful beaches here, especially in Jupiter. Numerous outdoor activities are available with boat rentals, fishing charters and more. Fishing is very good inshore and offshore.
Venice (FL) – This is one of the few cities on Florida’s west coast without a barrier island. The white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico form the western boundary of Venice. There are 14 miles of beautiful beaches from Casey Key to Manasota Key that offer many recreational opportunities such as swimming, sunbathing, boating and fishing. Many different species of fish pass through the Venice area throughout the year. Species such as kingfish, Spanish mackerel, blackfin tuna, cobia, grouper, barracuda, mangrove snapper, greater amberjack and other species make Venice their home throughout the different seasons.
Kenai Peninsula (AK) – The Kenai Peninsula is a large peninsula on the southern coast of Alaska. The peninsula extends approximately 150 miles southwest from the Chugach Mountains, south of Anchorage. It is separated from the mainland on the west by Cook Inlet and on the east by Prince William Sound. The Kenai Peninsula might be one of the most well-known vacation destinations in Alaska. The Kenai River has been featured on fishing shows and talked about among fly fishermen as well as other anglers for years. The salmon run is incredible on the Kenai River with 40 to 50 pound chinook salmon being common each year. The surrounding waters host all five species of Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, grayling, steelhead and halibut.
Prince William Sound (AK) – Prince William Sound is a sound off the Gulf of Alaska on the south coast of Alaska. It is located on the eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula. Most of the land surrounding Prince William Sound is part of the Chugach National Forest, the second largest national forest in the U.S. This area provides some spectacular scenery as it is ringed by the steep and glaciated Chugach Mountains. Whittier, Cordova and Valdez are popular fishing vacation destinations where anglers can target five species of Pacific salmon, halibut, rockfish, lingcod, cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden.
Southeast Alaska (Inside Passage) – Southeast Alaska, also known as the inside passage, is known for having some tremendous fishing opportunities. In this area, you will be primaily fishing out of the saltwater ports of Ketchikan, Petersburg, Wrangell, Sitka, Juneau, Haines and Skagway. You can expect to catch a variety of fish here such as salmon, halibut, lingcod and rockfish.
Southwest Alaska – Southwest Alaska offers its visitors some tremendous fishing opportunities. Whether you plan on visiting the Alaska Peninsula, Kodiak Island, Bristol Bay or the Aleutian Islands, you should be able to find accommodations and fishing charters to help you on your adventure. Fish for five species of Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, grayling and northern pike.
Gulf Shores & Orange Beach (AL) – The Gulf Shores / Orange Beach area is a great place for a family vacation. There is a beautiful white sand beach to go along with the numerous water sports, outdoor activities, golf and fishing. The coast offers some wonderful fishing from the surf, inshore and offshore. Some of the popular fish that are caught are amberjack, tuna, cobia, red snapper, redfish, sea trout, sheepshead and pompano.
Golden Isles (GA) – The mainland city of Brunswick and its four beautiful barrier islands: St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island make up the Golden Isles. The Golden Isles is located on the Georgia coast midway between Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL. This area is a popular resort community that offers plenty of outdoor recreation. Boating is popular and there are fishing charters available that target a variety of inshore and offshore species. Some of the fish that are common are flounder, sheepshead, whiting, redfish, tarpon, sharks, kingfish, amberjack, cobia, snapper, wahoo and dolphin.
Savannah, Georgia is a good-sized city that draws millions of visitors each year. Cape Cod (MA) is an arm-shaped peninsula that shapes the easternmost portion of Massachusetts. The Cape has 15 distinctive small towns along the beachfront that draws a lot of tourism during the summer months. There is plenty to do here with the arts & culture, quaint shops, fine dining, beaches, golf, boating and fishing. The striped bass fishing is excellent off of the Cape and there are numerous fishing charters that operate out of the many towns that make up the Cape. Fishing charters target bluefish, shark and other species as well.
Gloucester (MA) is a city located on Cape Ann in Essex County of Massachusetts. It is a part of Boston’s north shore and it is a popular summer resort town. The striped bass fishing is excellent here with many charters also fishing for cod, haddock, bluefish, shark and tuna.
Martha’s Vineyard (MA) is an island located just south of Cape Cod. The island covers about 87 square miles and it is a very popular summer vacation destination. Martha’s Vineyard is only accessible by boat and air, which makes it a very unique place to visit. Charleston (SC) is a historic city and the largest city of Charleston County. Situated on the Charleston Harbor fishermen and boaters have easy access to the harbor and offshore charters can head out to the Atlantic Ocean from here. There are so many species of fish to catch inshore or offshore. Fishing charters target redfish, sea trout, flounder, jack crevalle, spanish mackerel, spadefish, barracuda, ladyfish, cobia, tarpon, sharks, marlin, sailfish, dolphin, wahoo, tuna and others.
Hilton Head Island (SC) is located in the southern part of South Carolina about 20 miles north of Savannah, Georgia. The island is a very popular vacation destination with 12 miles of beachfront and numerous golf courses. Hilton Head Island is known more as a golf destination than a fishing destination, but the fishing is excellent here as well. Virginia Beach is the most populous city in all of Virginia with more than 430,000 people. Located on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this city is known as a very popular resort town with miles of beaches and plenty of hotels, motels and restaurants along the oceanfront. Because of its easy access to the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, fishermen can catch a variety of inshore or offshore species in this area.
